Art
Cato makes daily comics about what she's experienced or what's in her head. When she feels like it, that is. Everyday things turn absurd: romance interrupted by mouth spray with magic powers, crabs mistaking a beachgoer for a whale, a pear starting a conversation, a talking caterpillar.
She attends Rudolf Steiner College and is involved with JongFem, the feminist collective in Haarlem. In 2023 she won Shoot Your Shot, De Schuur's film competition for young people. She also participates in youth art platform ARTCORE.
Cato makes comics, zines and drawings that blur the line between normal and strange. Her work has that typical combination of everyday recognisable and completely unexpected. A day at the beach becomes an encounter with confused crabs. A pear becomes a philosophical moment.
During Boring Festival , Cato displays her art on a window at Noord-Hollands Archief.
