Poetry Circle is the national platform for spoken word. Throughout the country, they offer emerging word artists, experienced performers and spoken word enthusiasts places to meet and learn from each other. Founded in 2007 as a one-off workshop series, at a time when spoken word was barely known in the Netherlands. Babs Gons, active in developing spoken word since 1999, saw the need to introduce young writers to spoken word as a performance art. What began as a small-scale initiative has grown into a national network. Now active in nine cities. Each year they organise a workshop season for storytellers, poets, writers, songwriters and other makers who want their voices heard.
