Theater
What happens when you decide never to forget anything again? A young woman panics when she loses her way and begins obsessively storing everything: sheep, number plates, circling goldfish, Wikipedia facts, ingredients, song lyrics. Every detail. But can your prefrontal cortex become full? And what happens to the memories your body holds—do they burst from your flesh as suppressed truth?
KNOOPPUNT is a music theatre and dance performance by KASSETT and DansBlok that dives into the phenomenon of muscle memory. Does the body keep the score? How does our rational memory relate to our bodily memories? What does your head know, and what does your body know? And which one is lying?
The performance combines live electronics and vocals, poetic language, explosive dance and philosophical reflection into a hallucinatory trip through memory and forgetting. At Boring Festival, KNOOPPUNT is preceded by an interactive philosophical conversation with stand-up philosopher Gerko Tempelman, who takes the audience through questions about memory, identity and what we actually hold onto when we think we're remembering something.
Be prepared: after tonight, you'll no longer be certain what you know.
